Setting up your website template: Step 1: EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details Open the "flash.txt" file in Notepad and change "yourwebsitetitle.com" after the "logo=" and after the "&logo-tour=" change "yourwebsitetitle.com Virtual Tour" to match your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=" or "&logo-tour". Then change the four "&textline1=" to anything you would like. Be sure not to delete the "&textline1=" parts. This will change the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document. THE FLASH IMAGE SHOW: | Click for more details The animation in the header area is showing 8 .jpg images. You will find these images in the "flash" folder. You can simply replace "image1.jpg" through "image8.jpg" with any standard .jpg images and the flash will update. Make your images 75 x 75 pixels in size unless you edit the sizes in the header.js. Step 2: EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the "Your Name or Company" and "info@yourdomain.com" lines to match your information. This will change the lower page info on all pages. Step 3: EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details Open the "phone.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone number and e-mail address. This will change contact info on the "contact" page. Step 4: EDIT THE CONTACT FORM: | Click for more details If you are setup with an AllWebCo hosting account or your hosting company uses Formmail, go to your control panel at "http://your-domain.com/cgi-bin/plusmail" and install the free script "Formail" then edit the contact page called "window-contact.htm" in Notepad or any text editor and replace "your-domain.com" in 3 places with your domain. You will also need to change or remove the "map" link on the contact page as well. If you are not set up with AllWebCo hosting or do not have "Formail" installed. You can either setup the contact form to use another contact script, install "Formail" on your server or you can remove the contact form from the pages between the comment tags. Click for help. If you wish to change the sizes of the form elements you can open the "coolstyle.css" in Notepad or any text editor and change the ".shadeform" ".textarea" and ".dropdown" width numbers. Step 5: SETTING UP THE GALLERY: | Click for more details | Thumbnail Help Because this template includes a slideshow, the best way to setup the pictures in the gallery and the slide show at the same time is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" directory with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names. Replace the "Fgallery" pictures in the "gallery" directory with full size photos. Replace the "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now most likely 100 x 67 (center images are larger) pixels but you can make them any size that you prefer. PICTURE VIEWING AND SLIDESHOW OPTIONS: | Click for more details This template includes 15 options for the pop-closeup.js including pop-up or full browser image views. To change these options, open your "pop-closeup.js" in Notepad and put a "yes" or "no" (all lowercase) for the options you want to change. You can also change the height and width variables and colors as well as turn on and off the scrollbars. See the notes in the "pop-closeup.js" for details. Some options may also be defined in the "coolstyle.css". Step 6: EDIT THE TOUR AREA: | Click for more details All the files for the tour area can be found in the "tour" folder. 1. In the "tour" folder edit the tour-1.htm through tour-4.htm with your own item descriptions. 2. For each tour replace the images used in the tour popups. For example, for tour #1, edit the panoramic.jpg and the 9 other .jpg images found in the "tour_folder-1" that is inside the "tour" folder. Each tour image has a thumbnail and a full sized image to edit. For the scrolling image (panoramic.jpg) the matching thumbnail is called tour-1thumb.jpg. 3. If you need to change the header color, change the variables in the header-tour.js in the "tour" folder. 4. If you would like to use videos or see your other options Click here for more details Step 7: EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details Open the "sidebar.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the text and links with your own text. You will also find some options at the top of this file for showing images and paragraphs as well as a "view cart" button. Editing the sidebar.js will update all the pages at one time. You can also replace the sidebar images. These are called sidebar-1.jpg through 3 and can be found in your "picts" folder. Step 8: EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing Change the text on all pages to match your information. You can use Frontpage, Dreameaver or any wysiwyg editor or a text editor like Notepad. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text if you use Notepad. Step 9: EDIT PAGE TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details Open each of the pages and change the page titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords to match your product or service. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Keywords are very important so your site will get a good listing at Google or Msn and other search engines. Step 10: UPLOAD: | Click for more details Upload the pages on to your hosting company's server using ftp software like CuteFTP or Coffee Cup (free) or your control panel. Be sure to make a directory called picts on your server and put the pictures into that directory. If you have AllWebCo hosting be sure to put everything in the "www" directory. Options: USING A GRAPHIC LOGO: You can replace the Flash logo with a graphic one. To do this, delete or rename the header.js, then rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg", open this graphic and edit it with your logo. For the tour header, rename or delete the header-tour.js and then rename the graphic_header-tour.js to header-tour.js. Then edit the logo-tour.jpg also in the "picts" folder with your own logo image. COLOR CHANGES: | Click for more details | More color details This template features some quick color changes in some of the .js files and the CSS file. You will edit these files in Notepad to change the colors: The coolstyle.css, pop-closeup.js, header.js and the header-tour.js. You can also edit colors in the menu.js and menu-2.js file. Click the above link for details. FONTS: | Click for more details You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. You can find other font colors by clicking here. You can also change the font sizes in the "coolstyle.css" file. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "subtitle" px size to change all the subtitle sizes. CHANGING / ADDING MENU BUTTONS: | Click for more details You can change the names and links on the buttons to other page names by editing the "menu.js", or the "menu-2.js". In most cases only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you want the page link to change. Whatever you change in any of the 2 main menus will change every page on the website. Keep the names short so the menus stay neat. You can even add more pages but copying one button in one of the menu.js files and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up these files before you edit them. FLOATING MENU: This template also includes a floating menu. You can change this menu as well, however, this is more complex as this menu uses graphics instead of text. Edit the floating_menu.js to add or change links. Edit the "float-?.gif" images in the picts folder to change the floating menu text images. PICTURES: | Click for more details You can replace all the template pictures with your own images. You will find all pictures in the "picts" and "gallery" folders. You will find the 8 images used in the Flash inside your "flash" folder. SETTING UP THE SLIDESHOW PICTURES: | Click for more details The slideshow is currently setup to display all the pictures in the gallery directory. If you would like to add or remove pictures from the slideshow, open the slideshow.htm in Notepad and look for the "EDIT THIS AREA" note. Copy and paste to add new pictures to the list, or delete lines to remove pictures. You can also set the AutoPlay speed. Look for "var rotate_delay = 3000". SIZING THE SLIDESHOW: See "PICTURE VIEWING AND SLIDESHOW OPTIONS" above on this page. ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or even add the page to the menu by opening the menu.js or menu-2.js and copying and pasting one of the buttons below another. For adding more tour pages see the link in Step #6 above. PAYPAL SHOPPING CART SETUP | Click for more details You can have the items in your gallery link to Paypal so visitors can purchase your items. Forms have been created in the "FORMgallery?.htm" files so it's easier to setup. This template is setup as a three page Paypal shopping cart but you can copy the gallery pages to add more. STEP 1: Set up a Paypal account and get the HTML code you need to setup purchases from your site. You will need the info between the "<form>" and "</form>" tags from Paypal for each item on the gallery pages. |
